Architect and sports enthusiast Luca Zarb, 29, is taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise €10,000 for Hospice Malta.

Between December 21 and 27, Luca will run seven marathons in seven days—covering a total of 294 kilometres—in honour of his late uncle, who passed away from cancer in 2018. Inspired by the care and compassion shown by Hospice Malta, Luca launched the SevenxSeven campaign to raise funds and awareness for the organisation’s vital palliative care services.

Each marathon will take place on a different route, including areas such as St Paul’s Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa, Marsascala, and Valletta. The fundraising target breaks down to €10 per kilometre run, with donations already open via the Hospice Malta portal.

While Luca has been an active athlete for years, this is his most ambitious challenge yet.

Preparing for the event has required intense training, lifestyle changes, and mental focus. “The toughest part will be maintaining my body, but I’ll keep moving—even if I have to walk,” he said.

Luca hopes his effort inspires others to support Hospice Malta’s work and make a difference for families affected by cancer. “This campaign is about hope, kindness, and helping those who don’t have a choice but to fight,” he concluded.

40 Years Since Malta’s Unforgettable Battle Against West Germany

Dec 17 2024 Share

40 years ago, on February 15, 1984, Malta faced West Germany in a memorable European Championship qualifier at Ta’ Qali Stadium. The match, attended by a record-breaking crowd of over 30,000 passionate fans, showcased one of Malta’s finest football moments.

Although the final score was 2-3 in favor of West Germany, Malta’s display against the European giants resonated far beyond the final whistle. Goals from West Germany’s stars like Rudi Völler and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge could not overshadow the determination shown by the Maltese.

This match remains a defining moment in Maltese football history, a testament to the underdog spirit and skill of the national team. Malta’s performance that day marked history.

5 types of People During Christmas Time.

5 types of People During Christmas Time.
Dec 17 2024 Share

The holiday season brings out a variety of personalities, each with its own approach to celebrating Christmas. From the ultra-enthusiastic to the tradition-bound, these types highlight the diversity of festive cheer.

The Christmas Enthusiast is a year-round fan of the season. They deck their homes with lights and inflatables as early as November 1, keep the Christmas tunes rolling until mid-January, and eagerly discuss wish lists at Thanksgiving dinner. Their energy is contagious, though it may overwhelm some.

In stark contrast, The Grinch pushes back on festivities. They begrudgingly join in, often at the last minute, with minimal decorations and uninspired gifts. To them, December is the only acceptable time for Christmas-related activities.

The Travelers spend the holidays chasing exotic experiences, trading snow for sun. Whether it’s Florida or the Outer Banks, their social media showcases enviable adventures. Yet for many, there’s no place like home for the holidays.

The Host transforms Christmas into an art form. Known for throwing the most spectacular holiday parties, their events feature dazzling decorations, an irresistible spread of food, and an ever-growing guest list.

Finally, The Tradition-Oriented Family finds comfort in consistency. They uphold the same holiday customs year after year, cherishing the familiarity of their gatherings and the joy of time-honoured rituals.

No matter the type, each approach adds its own charm to the most wonderful time of the year.
