Big Brother Malta Co-Host Ryan Turns 40 Years Old

One-half of the Big Brother Malta host duo, Josmar, wished his boyfriend and co-host Ryan a happy 40th birthday,

News Reporter Speaks Out After Journalists Threatened Outside Court

Local news reporter Francesco Catania took to social media to address the recent incident which saw ONE News journalists harassed by relatives of the AFM drug theft suspects’ relatives.

‘This is but an amplified taste of what we journalists go through everyday due to our job’, wrote Catania.

‘Insults, people staring at you with bad looks – as well as some people who celebrate you and encourages you. But there are others who insult your entire family not just outside but also online.’

He wrote that one can try and understand the emotions a person feels when facing such a situation whilst doing their job – ‘especially in a country where a woman was blown up with a car bomb allegedly due to the same line of work.’

He extended his thoughts with all his friends in the line of work as well as all journalists. He found it surreal how in 2025, police assistance is still needed to feel safe.

‘However, with political rhetoric and solidarity we will solve nothing. Protect journalists and care for them… everyone has a family at home waiting for them. If you don’t respect the journalists, at least respect those at home.’

Carnival Celebrations In 42 Localities Around Malta

Carnival 2025 is in full swing, bringing the festive spirit to towns and villages across Malta and Gozo. With colourful parades, creative costumes, and an infectious atmosphere, Carnival remains one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year.

This year, more than 42 localities hosted their own events, ensuring that no matter where you are, there’s a Carnival experience waiting for you.

With several events already taking place, the festivities are set to continue in various locations over the coming days.

The Carnival season kicked off with celebrations in Paola and Qrendi on the 22nd of February, followed by Għarb on the 22nd and 23rd. More events unfolded in Kalkara and Ħamrun on the 23rd, bringing a vibrant start to the nationwide celebrations.

Over the past two days, the Carnival fun spread to Naxxar, Żejtun, Marsa, Żurrieq, Munxar, and Xlendi on the 25th, followed by Birkirkara, Isla, Bormla, Ħal Għaxaq, Santa Luċija, Mosta, and Tarxien on the 26th.

The 27th of February saw festivities take over Ħ’Attard, San Ġwann, San Ġiljan, Għargħur, Floriana, Imqabba, Siġġiewi, Għajnsielem, and Ix-Xagħra (Gozo). As we enter the final days of Carnival 2025, more towns are gearing up for their own celebrations.

Locals and visitors alike can expect exciting parades, creative costumes, and live entertainment in these vibrant towns. On Friday, the 28th of February, Carnival fun continues in Gżira, Fgura, Birżebbuġa, il-Gudja, Ħad-Dingli, Ħal Luqa, and Iż-Żebbuġ (Gozo).

The grand Carnival weekend will take place on Saturday, the 1st, and Sunday, the 2nd of March, with events planned in San Pawl il-Baħar, Ħaż-Żabbar, Santa Venera, ir-Rabat, San Lawrenz, Ta’ Sannat, ix-Xewkija, Ħal Safi, and Ħal Kirkop. As always, the biggest and most iconic Carnival celebrations will take place in Valletta, Rabat (Gozo), and Nadur.

The Valletta Carnival will once again showcase elaborate floats, choreographed dances, and street performances that bring thousands of people together in the capital.

Meanwhile, Nadur’s spontaneous Carnival remains a highlight, famous for its unique, satirical, and often unpredictable nature. This event attracts massive crowds who come to experience the raw, unfiltered version of Carnival that has become a defining tradition in Gozo.

Carnival 2025 in these various localities is made possible thanks to a scheme supporting local councils, spearheaded by Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli. This initiative ensures that various communities can bring their unique flavour to the Carnival celebrations, making the festival more accessible to everyone.
