Local Shares Vision Of Enhanced Maltese Roads And Public Transport

Apr 21 2025 Share

Local entrepreneur Glen Ciantar recently shared a series of AI-generated images on Facebook, offering a glimpse into his vision for the future of Triq Dun Karm in Birkirkara.

His concept centres on removing cars from Maltese streets and reimagining the road as a modern, multimodal transport corridor.

Commenting on the images, Ciantar explained that the proposed transformation would include dedicated tram lines, expanded pedestrian zones, safe bicycle lanes, extensive greenery, and more efficient bus routes. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion and promote sustainable mobility, shifting the focus away from car dependency.

It was noted by many that the proposed images would go hand in hand with the government’s national strategy unveiled under Malta Vision 2050, which heavily focused on the Government’s commitment to introduce a green mass transportation system to compliment the existing public transport and reduce cars and traffic on the road.

The police arrested two men during a routine patrol in Paceville as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.

Officers noticed a bouncer acting suspiciously outside a Paceville establishment. They followed him to a restroom where he was found holding four sachets of suspected cocaine and a card payment machine. Two others were in the room, one of whom was swiping a card.

The 21 year old Serbian bouncer was arrested on the spot. Investigations revealed the card reader allegedly belonged to the DJ playing at the venue, a 34 year old Libyan man, who was also arrested. A second card machine and empty sachets were found in his possession.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
