Local Monster Truck Show Stuns Thousands Of Fans

The Wheels and Thrills 2024 event saw thousands of local monster truck enthusiasts gather in Ta’ Qali to witness a legendry spectacle filled with talented drivers and massive vehicles.

Present at the event was Special Olympics President and wife of Prime Minister Robert Abela, Dr. Lydia Abela.

One of the trucks stealing the show was of the Viking Motorsports Team, driven by Benny Jacobsson. The owner and founder of the team Lars Larsson was also present as was the whole crew of the team including mechanics and crew chiefs.

The event is in aid of Special Olympics Malta and promises to feature a whole day of exciting festivities and exhilarating spectacles.

Fortnite Announce Collaboration With Crocs

Fortnite, known for its numerous collaborations, is introducing a new pair of Crocs inspired by the game’s signature elements.

Fans of the popular battle royale game will soon have the opportunity to express their love for Fortnite in a stylish and comfortable way.

This highly anticipated release is set to drop in October, offering a unique twist on the classic rubber clogs.

Given Fortnite’s history of partnerships across various industries, the collaboration with Crocs is no surprise.

The upcoming Fortnite-themed Crocs are heavily influenced by the game’s visuals, particularly the iconic Battle Bus.

The first pair, officially revealed, features a purple and yellow color scheme that mimics the Battle Bus design.

Additionally, a second pair inspired by the character Peely is rumored to be in development, although details about this version have not yet been fully released.

What makes these Crocs stand out is the inclusion of Fortnite-themed Jibbitz, the small rubber charms used to customize the shoes.

These Jibbitz will include iconic game elements such as the Supply Llama and Supply Drop, allowing fans to personalize their footwear with familiar in-game items.

The shoes are expected to retail for $70, nearly double the price of standard Crocs.

Ryanair Aims to Carry 8 Million Passengers Annually on Malta Routes

Speaking to Times of Malta, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary revealed that the company’s aim is to annually carry 8 million passengers on routes to and from Malta, within the next decade.

Michael O’Leary was in Malta to launch three new Ryanair routes from the Malta International Airport and during his interview with the Times of Malta, he insisted that Malta can accommodate more tourists with better infrastructure and a more even distribution throughout the year.

8 million passengers would be almost double the current number of Ryanair passengers passing to and from Malta. According to O’Leary this would be a good thing for the country as it would boost the economy keeping hotels and tourist facilities busy throughout the year.

Ryanair have anticipated that 4.4 million passengers will travel to and from Malta this year, marking a 24% increase from last year’s 3.3 million—a record growth for its local operations.

The airline announced on Tuesday that it is adding Rome Fiumicino, Katowice in Poland, and Paris Beauvais to its winter schedule from Malta, beginning this month.

Cash Salary Payments To Be Banned, PM Announces

Speaking during an interview on ONE, Prime Minister Robert Abela announced that a new Legal Notice will soon come into effect, ensuring that workers in Malta will receive their wages directly into their bank accounts.

This measure is intended to prevent worker exploitation and protect employee rights. Currently, some workers are paid in cash, making it harder to track payments and ensure fair wages, the Prime Minister said.

Under the new rule, employers will be required to transfer salaries via bank deposits, with payment by cheque allowed only if bank transfers are not possible.

The decision was made following discussions with unions and employers in preparation for the upcoming Budget.

The Prime Minister emphasised that this reform will enhance working conditions, particularly for Maltese, Gozitan, and foreign workers, by safeguarding the wages they are entitled to receive.

This new salary measure is part of a broader government initiative to improve labour conditions, which also includes the upcoming introduction of “equal pay for equal value” from January 1st.

Abela highlighted that these changes align with other reforms in recent years, such as the increase in the minimum wage and social agreements between the government, unions, and employers. The new salary measure aims to create a more transparent and fair payment system across the country.
