Two individuals were rescued from the rough Qui-si-Sana seas in Sliema on Wednesday night in an operation which included a local hero, civil protection and the Malta Police Force.

Sean Meli established himself as a local hero after he abruptly jumped into the rough seas to save a visibly drowning individual who was dragged out to sea at around 7PM.  The victims were a 14-year-old Chinese boy and a 37-year-old Libyan who were saved thanks to efforts this Sliema hero, members of the Civil Protection Unit and District Police.

Eye-witnesses have reported that had it not been for Meli rapid intervention, the youngster would have died. TVM has reported that even the emergency doctor jumped into the sea to aid the Armed Forces in their dinghy deployment.

More details when we have them.

Posting to her social media, 19-year-old singer Billie Eilish went topless for a montage of photos promoting her debut fragrance line.

‘TOMORROW MORNING “Eilish” OUT 9AM PT’ posted the star. ‘I can’t wait for it to be in your hands!’ She captioned the stunning photos.

Staring directly into the camera, the singer ditched the signature baggy clothes for a series of raw shots.

The fragrance bottle is formed like half of a woman’s face and her chest.

‘I just wanted to make perfume to have a perfume. It has nothing to do with me, I’m just branding it so that people see it.’

Eilish herself seemed to be mirroring the bottle through the photographs, stating that perfumes have always been one of her greatest joys. She said that she is not making the perfume as Billie Eilish, an artist or a singer.

‘I’ve always been in love with vanilla, since I was a kid and my mom would teach me to bake. Vanilla is such a loved smell. But for me, that was really how I felt like I wanted to smell.’

Red Cross director Robert Brincau to take prison head role after Alex Dalli self-suspension

Nov 10 2021 Share

The Home Affairs Ministry has announced that Robert Brincau will be assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Correctional Services Agency as well as acting prison director. This comes after former prison head Alexander Dalli’s self-suspension following the suicide of yet another prison inmate last night.

Brincau currently heads Malta’s Detention service and, in the past months, also implemented a number of key changes in the security and welfare sectors. The new prison head has had managerial experience and served for a number of years in the Malta Red Cross, the organisation which aims to prevent human suffering by “improving the situation of the most vulnerable individuals in society without any discrimination.”

Brincau was appointed by Minister for home Affairs, Law Enforcement and National Security Byron Camilleri in the midst of national concern towards the Corradino Correctional Facility and worries of unsatisfactory inmate conditions.

Do you welcome Brincau’s appointment as prison head?
