Local footballer for Raiders Gharghur FC Maya Lucia has made headlines after being the victim of racist attacks during a recent football game versus Mosta FC whereafter she was subject to racist slurs attacking her family and skin colour.

The Malta Football Association released a statement expressing solidarity with the player and that it is currently investigating the incident, along with the police.
Meanwhile, opposing team Mosta FC could face a €17,000 fine and point-deduction within the league due to the racist attacks.

Our thoughts are with Maya Lucia – NO TO RACISM, now and forever.
