Stay Up To Date With The Msida Creek Project Through WhatsApp!
Oct 24 2024 Share

The Msida redevelopment project, set to begin in November 2024, will feature an innovative way to keep the public informed—through a dedicated WhatsApp group.

Infrastructure Malta’s CEO, Steve Ellul, announced this unique communication channel during a media briefing, emphasizing its importance in ensuring transparency and community engagement throughout the project.

Residents and commuters will be able to join the WhatsApp group to receive real-time updates, traffic advisories, and progress reports on the work. This initiative marks a first for a large-scale infrastructure project in Malta, aiming to enhance public awareness and ease concerns during construction.

The project, first proposed in 2020, focuses on improving traffic flow and urban sustainability in one of Malta’s busiest areas, which sees 50,000 cars daily. In addition to addressing congestion, it will transform the area with 60% of the space dedicated to open areas, including a 2,000-square-meter piazza and about three football fields’ worth of green zones.

Flooding, a long-standing issue in Msida, will be mitigated with a 300-meter canal and other flood prevention measures.

The redevelopment, which is scheduled for completion by 2027, will also promote sustainable transportation through new cycle lanes, walking paths, and a two-storey parking facility powered by solar panels. The WhatsApp group will keep the public engaged and informed every step of the way, ensuring smooth communication during this transformative project.
