‘I call out to you, but you don’t respond. I look, but I don’t believe’, wrote Stef Coppola, the wife of the late Shaun Coppola, who lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident on St Paul’s Bypass.

‘I want to tell you a lot of things but I don’t have any words’, she continued. ‘I know you are not coming back but I hope they tell us they made a mistake. I know it’s not a dream but it’s like I’m living in one.’

‘We love you forever and I promise that I will keep your memory alive for the daughter you had so many plans and dreams for. Ella and I are always proud of you.’

Rest in peace Shaun, and deepest condolences to loved ones.

History has just been made as Karly May Naudi has become the first trans woman to compete for the title of Miss Universe Malta, representing Sliema.

In her launch video, Karly said that in a time when trans rights are constantly being challenged, she has chosen to stand tall and face challenges head on.

With a message of self love, she described the journey of learning how to love oneself is the most powerful thing someone can do.

“Equality is not a privilege but a right”, said Karly, as she encouraged everyone to own their own truth. ‘No one can dim your light’ when you do so, said Karly.

This is not the first time Karly is breaking boundaries, becoming the first Maltese transgender model to walk for three designers during the Malta Fashion Week in 2018.

Sasha Gatt Wins Her First Ever GSSE Swimming Gold Medal

May 28 2025 Share

Sasha Gatt has won her first ever swimming gold medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra.

Gatt took part in the Women’s 800m Freestyle on Tuesday late afternoon at Andorra’s Centre Esportiu Serradells.

She claimed victory with a time of 8:49.74, finishing ahead of competitors from Monaco and Luxembourg, who took silver and bronze respectively, as well as others from host nation Andorra and Iceland.

At just 19 years old, Gatt is already a two-time Olympian, having represented Malta at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, where she also served as one of Malta’s flagbearers.

During the previous edition of the GSSEs, held in Malta in 2023, she secured four medals, three silvers and a bronze, but gold had eluded her. This time, however, she achieved her long-awaited triumph.

Malta has now secured three gold medals, putting the nation a third of the way towards its goal of nine — a milestone that would mark its strongest performance at a Small Nations Games held abroad.
