42-year-old immigrant and father of 3 Lassana Cisse, who was murdered in cold blood in Ħal Far two years ago, has been given a touching tribute in the form of a mural at St. George’s Basilica in Rabat, Gozo.
Lassana’s image portrays two individuals by his side with one representing society disregarding him with a phone in hand and the other representing the church offering its support.
The mural is part of the eight Opri tal-Ħniena in the Basilica, which highlight the importance of not shrugging away those in need. Father Joseph Curmi posed a question to TVM stating “What will society do now? Keep scrolling as we do on our mobiles, or decide to care?”
In every other picture of the Opri tal-Ħniena, the images illustrate a protagonist with two figures, with one representing the Church and the other representing society.
