Labour’s Only Candidate to Vote In Favour Metsola Explains Why

Jul 17 2024 Share

Following Roberta Metsola’s record election into her second term as European Parliament president, Gozitan Labour Party MEP Thomas Bajada explained why he was the only Labour MEP to vote in favour of the newly-elected Metsola.

In a recent statement addressed by the first-time MEP, Bajada stated that, even though Metsola may be coming from a different political party with different beliefs, he did such a move because he is in favour of supporting Maltese people like himself.

“I believe we need Maltese voices in the highest positions of Europe’s institutions. It does not mean that we will agree on everything or how she perceives local and international politics, but I believe that this is the duty of every Maltese and Gozitan citizen.”

An unexpected power outage disrupted a band’s march in Qormi ahead of the Feast of St Sebastian. PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia posted to social media showing a photograph of a pitch black street filled with feast banners.

He emphasises the number of people that messaged him and also the amount of people he has spoken to about the power outages that limited the band from being able to pass through the streets. This situation mainly frustrated feasts enthusiasts, as they had taken the time to decorate the streets.

The summer heat has brought along with it the annual issues of power cuts. Apart from Qormi, other localities that were affected by this powercut included, Gozo , Mellieħa, and Ħamrun.
