This evening, the Labour Party’s set of electoral proposals were approved during the party’s manifesto launch event. Addressed by Labour Party president Ramona Attard, PL Deputy Leader Daniel Jose Micallef and Prime Minister Robert Abela and others, the Party put forward a number of electoral proposals going into the March 26th election.
Amongst others, the Labour Party has presented a number of proposals in favour of ‘a digital Malta’, with the first proposal in this manifesto section highlighting that a Labour government will invest in digital infrastructure and human resource while prioritising quantum computing, deep tech, artificial intelligence and robotics. Similar to one of the Nationalist Party’s main electoral pillars, that being the ’10 economic sectors’, Labour pledges to invest further into the country’s digital landscape by focusing on digital connectivity solutions such as artificial intelligence and the ‘internet of things’.
For individuals seeking private courses in coding, the Labour Party is also proposing a €1,000 refund for those applying. With regards to diversification, a proposal in particular mentions development in the gaming sector, with initiatives including a ‘boot camp’ aimed at attracting start-up businesses in sectors such as eSports and video game development.
Highlighting his party’s ‘track record’, Robert Abela stated that with the trust of the people, he will see that the entire plan is enacted during his first mandate.
During his speech, Robert Abela also mentioned the coming out of the pandemic, Malta had the largest economic growth in Europe and the lowest rate of unemployment.
