Robert Abela’s Labour Party is reported to have officially won the 2022 general election.
The Labour Party approached the election with the slogan Malta Flimkien, a campaign centred around an appeal for unity and increased opportunities whilst relying on Labour’s reputation in government.
In a call with Television Malta, Prime minister Robert Abela revealed that Labour have secured ‘an absolute majority’ and while it would not be prudent to comment on numbers as of yet, “work will begin from tomorrow.”

Vote counting officially started at 9:24AM with initial samples showing the election result to be in the Labour Party’s favour, despite what is reported to be a historically low election turnout.
Yesterday, the official election turnout by 2pm was reported to be 44.8%, which is 8 points less than the turnout in 2013 – over 50,000 votes were not submitted.
