Recent allegations of political corruption in Malta have led to a series of provocative billboards targeting the Labour Party. These billboards take direct aim at the party’s slogan ‘Is-Saħħa lill-Maltin’, which translates to ‘Strength to the Maltese’.
The new billboards take aim at the slogan with ‘Sraqna Is-Saħħa lill-Maltin’, which translates to ‘We Stole the Maltese People’s Strength/Health’. This insinuates that the Labour Party has been involved in actions detrimental to the Maltese populace.
In addition to the Labour Party, the Nationalist Party (PN) has also faced criticism. The PN’s slogan ‘Għalik’, meaning ‘For You’, has been purchased as a website domain. The website hosts a video targeting the party and its veterans, suggesting potential past wrongdoings and controversial actions.
With MEP elections coming in June, the political landscape is expected to get as tense as ever, with party supporters snapping back to election mode as pressure continues to escalate.
