The Labour Party and the Nationalist Party have officially launched their campaigns for the European Parliament and Local Council elections this June.
Prime Minister Robert Abela announced the Labour Party’s campaign with a theme centred around ‘Strength to the Maltese’ (Saħħa lill-Maltin).
On his part, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech addressed a political activity at the Pieta headquarters, saying that Malta and Gozo should be represented as best they can at the EU level but also at the local level.
Prime Minister Robert Abela emphasized during the Labour Party General Conference that the upcoming election concerns all citizens. He affirmed that the Labour Party negotiates for Malta’s interests in Brussels, including its neutrality, and highlighted Malta’s economic progress despite challenges like the pandemic and inflation.
Meanwhile, Bernard Grech criticized the government’s lack of direction and accused it of creating problems for the people. He condemned the government’s pardon for fraudsters and highlighted issues faced by families, construction victims, and patients. Grech also discussed the Nationalist Party’s proposals for addressing the cost of living.
