Malta’s Kyle Micallef has just set a new men’s national record in the 50m freestyle at the National Swimming Championships.
Kyle brought the time down to 22.79 seconds during the long course nationals, as reported by @neptunes_wpsc_swimming. His powerful swim not only set a new national benchmark but also earned him another gold medal for his club.

Following an initial reward of €1,000, authorities and local animal welfare groups have increased the reward to €4,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for the recent cat killings in Sliema.
A vigil was organised by concerned residents to remember the cats and demand justice.
In a Facebook post shared by Debbie Mole, one of the residents involved, shared photos from the vigil showing a heart-shaped candle lighting up the street where the cats used to sit with the announcement of the €4,000 reward was made in memory of the cats, Pupa, Maui, Chico, Buxa, and others.

Malta’s Mya Azzopardi has just broken a long standing women’s national record whilst competing at the National Swimming Championships.

Mya brought down the 100m freestyle record to a new time of 57.75 during the long course nationals. This was a record that has been standing since 2008.
However that wasn’t all, as Mya also swam the 100 backstroke during the heats in a record time of 1:06:12!

A vigil was held yesterday evening for the killed cats in Sliema over the past weeks.
Reports had been issued by concerned citizens that cats were being assaulted and killed in the locality, with photos circulating of the poor creatures after their assault.

Citizens and animal rights activists gathered outside to light candles and called for action to be taken to find out the perpetrator of these horrific killings.
There is currently a €4,000 reward for any information that helps with the capture of the killer.
