Konrad Mizzi is being interrogated by the Financial Crimes Investigation Department

Former minister Konrad Mizzi is currently being interrogated by the Financial Crimes Investigation Department in St. Venera for reasons which are currently unclear.

Now an independent MP after being formally exiled from the Labour Party following the controversy surrounding Enemalta’s Montenegro wind-farm deal, Mizzi is joined by lawyers Jean-Paul Sammut and Carol Peralta.

Zwiit is undoubtedly one of our one of our favourite sweet spots and has been for quite a while now. Few other places offer the quality and variety that this St. Julian’s spot offers. Just recently, they’ve also set up a kiosk in Żejtun to bring their mouthwatering treats to every corner of the island.

Whether you’re craving doughnuts, have a yearning for pancakes or feel like some crispy churros or imqaret, Zwiit have got you sorted.

Seeing that we can’t really travel right now, we’ll gladly take the next best thing as Waffle Master’s tasty treats take us on a journey like no other. Whether you’re in Marsascala, Birgu or just couching it at home and feel like ordering in, Waffle Master offers some of the best sweets on the island.

Beyond their now-iconic bubble waffles, they also offer lolly waffles, pearl & Brussel waffles, sweet crepes and monster milkshakes but rest assured, whatever you order, you’re coming out satisfied. 🤩

Becky’s just offers that carefree vibe we long for on a day-to-day basis and the fact that they offer some of the tastiest crepes and pancakes on the island is definitely a bonus. 🥞 Not to mention the fact that they serve as a perfect accompaniment to their juicy, mouth-watering burgers. 🍔

Special shout-out to Higher Secondary students who treat this iconic cafe as their home away from home, you know who you are.

MaltaDaily Personal Fave: Just about any stack of fluffy pancakes, you really can’t go wrong at Becky’s.

Relatively the new kid on the block, Donut Empire has made a name for itself as the island’s latest hungry hotspot, donning a glowing neon look reminiscent of the classic American diner. 🇺🇸

With a HUGE range of flavours to choose from, the Empire constantly refreshes their menu with both sweet and savoury dishes that are guaranteed to get your stomach rumbling. 🍩

Whether you’re craving Pina Colada, American Cheesecake, Pistachio & White Chocolate or just feel like a milkshake, Donut Empire is the place to go.

MaltaDaily Personal Fave: The Peanut Butter and Jelly Donut. This Donut takes us to places that no single airline can at the moment and we love it.

 

Miss Ellen’s Travelling Treats is an unmistakable classic in local candy lore. Their iconic retro sweet van visits villages around Malta & Gozo on a daily basis, providing the best variety of sweets you can imagine.

From Cheetos to Pop Tarts, Pick n’ mix packs and every flavour of drink you can imagine.. the possibilities are endless at Miss Ellen’s. 😍

AstranaZeneca vaccine to arrive soon & will be given to 18 to 55-year-olds

On Tuesday evening, Health Minister Chris Fearne revealed in Parliament that the AstraZeneca vaccine will be arriving in Malta in a few days and will be given primarily to people aged between 18 and 55.

Fearne stated that AstraZeneca provided information deeming the vaccine effective without leaving trial-patients hospitalised, going on to highlight that trials were based on under 55s.

While revealing that the first doses will arrive within 10 days of their authorisation, Fearne stated that 18 to 55-year-olds will not ONLY get the AstraZeneca vaccine, as it may vary from case to case.

138 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 190 recoveries

67 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 323 recoveries

Malta has registered 138 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,973 swab tests, while 190 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Monday 3rd February 2021, 30,252 vaccine doses were administered of which 4,891 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 18,306 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 15,423 have recovered, 273 died and 2,610 are still active.
