Keith Schembri & others to spend weekend in prison ahead of bail hearing

Mar 26 2021 Share

Former Chief of Staff for the Office of the Prime Minister Keith Schembri is set to spend the weekend at Corradino Correctional Facility after his bail request was denied and scheduled for 29th March.

Schembri, along with others, was arrested and charged on Saturday 20th March and denied bail due to potential tampering of evidence or fears of fleeing the country.

Today’s court appearance for a compilation of evidence revealed a deep entanglement of offshore accounts for alleged profit off passport kickbacks and purchasing of printing equipment for Allied Newspapers.

Today’s appearance also revealed that Schembri had set up a Pilatus Bank account only weeks before the passport kickbacks scheme.
