“Karl You United The Country” – Peppi Azzopardi’s Farewell Message To Karl Gouder

Sep 13 2024 Share

Legendary Maltese journalist Peppi Azzopardi has released a heartwarming few farewell words to Karl Gouder, who was tragically found dead last Tuesday.

Azzopardi started his tribute by saying how much Karl shocked a lot of people and how loved and dear he is by so many people.

He ended his short poem message by stating “Karl, with your love, you united a country,”.

This last message was proven absolutely spot on with so many fellow politicians whether Labour, Nationalist or Independent who took time off their usual busy days to wish their condolences by signing a book dedicated to him.

Prime Minister Robert Abela and several other Labour officials were present to sign his book, as well as the Leader of Opposition Bernard Grech and his fellow other former Nationalist officials.

The Nationalist party also confirmed that Karl’s funeral will be held this Saturday at the San Giljan Parish church at 11 am. The funeral will also be broadcast live on Net TV.

This means that DECA triathletes to complete the challenge would have to cover an insane 2,260 kilometers, which is equivalent to 16 and a half runs around the circumference of Malta.

Spiteri completed the challenge after 12 days, starting his journey on the 1st of September.

The race which was held at Lake Garda, Italy featured 11 athletes overall, with Spiteri ending up in 6th place with a total time of 264 hours.

Last year he had  also attempted the feat in Brazil but could not complete the challenge due to painful blisters and torn muscles.

This year he dedicated the race to his close friend Jake Vella, who tragically passed away whilst he was competing in Italy.

Spiteri had pledged to complete the distance in Vella’s memory, and fulfilling that promise will undoubtedly hold great significance for the veteran triathlete.
