Justice Minister working from home due to foot injury

Justice Minister Edward Zammit Lewis took to Facebook to reveal that he has been restricted to working from home due to having injured his foot. In a post uploaded to the platform, the Minister said that he started the month of November ‘on a bad leg’, and not as he intended to do so.

He said that he is currently working at home due to a little accident he had which injured his foot. He highlighted how despite the injury, he will still be working for the good of the nation and all those who need him. He apologized for not being able to meet face to face with clients and his team, but assured them that he will remain available nonetheless. The source of the injury was not revealed but we wish the Minister a speedy recovery and admiration for his determination to continue his work.

Ducks flock to Gzira café following dismantling of duck village

The ducks who lost their duck village of Manoel Island flocked towards a café along the Gzira seaside. The duck village was brought down in September after many complained of filthy and unsanitary conditions, but it seems as though the ducks had to find a new sheltering area. Times of Malta spoke to Waylon Falzon, the Bus Stop Lounge terrace manager, who said that the ducks don’t bother him at all. ‘Of course we have customers that complain, but there are others who are very happy to see a duck resting next to them as they have their coffee.’ As many as 50 ducks have been counted sheltering at the café during rainfalls.

The duck village wasn’t home to just these feathered critters as cats, hens and rabbits populated the area for more than 25 years. After animal activists raised the alarm of the animal’s neglect, the village was removed. Despite many animals being rescued by Sunshine Animal Sanctuary Malta, the ducks were left to fend for themselves… and it seems the café proved to be their new abode.

You could soon be eating 3D printed burgers

The world is changing, and its changing fast as it attempts to tackle problems such as over-population, climate change and food shortages. What if we were to tell you that some companies are working on technology which would see burgers printed as you wait to chow down on your favorite patty? This wouldn’t be going too far from genetically engineered ‘meat’ products as many raise concerns about the ethical treatment of animals. But the technology would be using food in paste format as their printing ‘ink’.

The printers would be able to design everything from burgers to ice cream to pancakes. Companies are also allegedly testing much more sophisticated versions, with 3D bio-printing being able to print cells and materials together to create more complex food products such as marbled beef steak. This could revolutionize the entire food supply of the world, especially considering the many issues we face as a globe. However, how many people are actually willing to dine on a printed burger is still to be tested.

YouTuber Jake Paul wants to join Elon Musk in ending world hunger

Following the news that Elon Musk is considering donating $6 billion if the UN can prove how it will use his money to end world hunger, YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul has jumped on the philanthropist train as well. He posted to Twitter stating ‘yo @elonmusk if you donate $6 billion to the UN to end world hunger I’ll also donate $10 million if this gets 690K retweets.’ Why the number of retweets is set at that digit will be left to the imagination, but the fact that he has $10 million just sitting around for charity proves he must have actually amassed a fortune since he launched his channel.

Of course, the massive contribution will only be given if the Tesla and SpaceX CEO himself will give his own $6 billion. This follows director of the World Food Program David Beasley urging the world’s biggest billionaires to do something better with their money. Just 2% of Elon Musk’s net worth (the whopping $6 billion) would, according to Beasley, end the plight which takes so many lives. We’ll have to see whether any of this will transpire, but if this is what it takes to actually solve the issue, the question must be raised… what took so long?
