Among the outstanding submissions, Antonella Vella’s photograph of a young man covered in blue paint during the Żabbar fast has particularly captivated audiences.

This image, along with other vivid captures like traditional salt-farming by ‘Bellina 09’, and prickly-pear farming by ‘Kikku33’, represents Malta’s rich cultural tapestry in the running for a global prize.

A total of 412 images were submitted to Wiki Loves Folklore Malta 2024, showcasing the island’s vibrant traditions and folklore. Antonella Vella emerged as the overall winner, securing 200 euros worth of photographic equipment from PhotoCity in Valletta. All participants now aim for the top international prize of 374 euros.
