May 6 2024 Share

On his Facebook account former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has just responded to the breaking news released that him, Keith Schembri, Konrad Mizzi and many others have been accused and will be charged with a number of criminal court accusations.

Joseph Muscat stated that he has been told by many lawyers that for the first time ever, “there will be a lot of people accused of criminal activity without the possibility to defend themselves.” He continued on to state that this charge was “not merely a case of political vendetta but a manifestation of corruption and abuse, where the lives of countless individuals are being ruined by bureaucratic malpractice for the convenience of a few. ”

Now since the attorney general has officially filed criminal charges in court, the criminal fate of Muscat and others will depend on the judiciary process and police investigation. According to TVM News, lawyers from the Attorney General’s Office presented three subpoenas.

According to sources who spoke to multiple news platforms the police have issued criminal charges against 19 individuals in connection to the Vitals Global Healthcare inquiry.

On another note, according to netnews.com.mt Joseph Muscat was issued with a freezing order of €30 million and that he will be charged with fraud, money laundering and corruption.

This is a developing story and more details are expected to come out in the coming hours and days.
