Speaking at a Labour Party campaign rally for Alex Agius Saliba, former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat took a shot at European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, mocking and critiquing her by, in one instance, seemingly confusing her name with former PN leader Simon Busuttil.

Muscat was speaking about extending the arm of friendship with the Opposition, saying that they would still not accept it but would instead associate and ‘hug’ those who killed thousands of children.

Metsola had previously addressed however, during an interview on RTK103, that she did not meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ‘like Joseph Muscat did’. She made these comments in defence of her trip to Israel in the wake of the 7th October attacks and spoke to President Isaac Herzog, not Netanyahu.

Muscat rhetorically asked whether his audience knew who he was speaking about before confusing her name as Roberta Busuttil. As the audience cheered him on, he goes on to switch the name and surname around and say he was about to call her Simon Metsola, to further clapping and support.

Oliver Bearman, Ferrari’s stand-in driver, had a remarkable debut at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, finishing seventh after replacing Carlos Sainz due to appendicitis.

With minimal practice and qualifying experience in Formula 1, the 18-year-old British rookie started 11th and adeptly navigated the race, overtaking competitors and fending off pressure from seasoned drivers like Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.

Bearman’s achievement made him the youngest Briton to start or finish an F1 race and the third youngest driver overall. Despite the whirlwind experience, Bearman remained focused, earning praise from peers and fans alike.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton commended Bearman’s talent, while race winner Max Verstappen lauded his impressive performance.

Amidst the race excitement, Red Bull Racing faced scrutiny over allegations of inappropriate behavior by team principal Christian Horner, although he was cleared following an investigation.

The controversy, fueled by leaked WhatsApp messages, continues to cast a shadow over the team. Bearman’s debut served as a bright spot amidst the tumultuous backdrop of Formula 1.

Speaking at a Labour Party campaign rally for Alex Agius Saliba, former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat addressed the question of whether he will be running for the European Parliament elections – albeit still not confirming or denying his candidature.

The former Labour leader said that the question is not whether Joseph Muscat will be contesting the elections, to which the supporters responded with a loud roar of support, but whether the people will go out and vote in June.

He goes on to explain that this is because no one is bigger than the Labour Party, saying that the party did not end with Mintoff, with no following leader including him and will not end with the leader following Robert Abela.

‘The party is bigger than each one of us because we want, above all else, the best for our country’, said Joseph Muscat in finishing.

The rest of the speech concerned Joseph Muscat addressing the recent turbulent history of corruption accusations as well as the achievements reached by the party.
