Johnny Depp may be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise after talks with Disney following the actor’s trial win against Amber Heard.

The 59-year-old Depp portrayed beloved pirate Jack Sparrow in 5 major motion pictures over the past 15 years and was dropped from the franchise in 2018. Tabloid platform Poptopic reported that Depp has been in talks with the entertainment giant about a potential $300 million deal after his defamation trial victory against Amber Heard.

Disney are reportedly looking to make amends with Depp and reached out themselves to see if he would be interested in returning as Jack Sparrow. The deal may also include a spin-off series on Disney Plus surrounding ‘the early life of the Captain of the Black Pearl.’

Depp had once told the jury that he would not return to working with Disney after he was removed from the Pirates franchise, with his legal team revealing that he lost out on $22 million as a result of Heard’s Washington Post 2018 op-ed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to call for the delivery of more heavy weapons in his address at tonight’s meeting of G7 group of nations.

This anticipated appeal follows a wave of Russian missile strikes on Kyiv and other populated areas over the weekend, with reports of at least one death. Meanwhile, Russia has taken full control of the city of Severodonetsk and is reportedly targeting the neighbouring city of Lysychansk.

Zelensky has stated that delays in the delivery of arms are “an invitation to Russia to strike again and again”, urging nations to rush deployment of arms by stating “partners need to move faster if they are really partners, not observers.”
