Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, will allegedly be spending $10 billion worth of funds on climate change issue in order to fight the threat it poses. The new Bezos Earth Fund CEO Dr. Andrew Steer issued the statement about the billionaire. Steer was named CEO of the fund on March 9th with full support from Bezos, who claimed he possesses ‘decades of experience in environmental and climate science as well as economic and social policy’ in multiple countries.
Dr. Steer will oversee and steer the strategy behind the distribution of grants, a job he claims he is immensely honoured to have. The scheme is set to be stretched out from now until 2030, meaning Bezos will be spending $1 billion per year. The fund was revealed in February of 2020, with Bezos announcing the first few donations handed out to 16 organisations.
