Jean Paul Sofia Tribute in Front of Castille Removed Overnight
Apr 13 2023 Share

Isabelle Bonnici made a powerful statement yesterday evening when she placed a portrait of her son, Jean Paul Sofia, with candles in front of Castille. Her message was clear: it is time to launch a public inquiry.

Jean Paul died on December 3rd while working at a construction site in Kordin. Isabelle Bonnici and her family are seeking justice and want to know what led to her son’s death. However, they are not only seeking justice for their son. A public inquiry will also make recommendations to amend or introduce new laws to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

Isabelle Bonnici invited the public to join her in placing a candle in front of her son’s picture on Castille’s lawn. Sadly, the tribute was removed overnight, causing outrage among the public. The opposition leader, Dr. Bernard Grech, took to social media to criticize the government, stating that they cannot remain stubborn on this issue. He joined Jean Paul’s mother in calling for a public inquiry.

Despite the setbacks, Isabelle Bonnici remains committed to her cause and thanked the public for their support. She vowed to continue seeking justice for her son until her last breath.

A few weeks ago, the long-running local adventure program, Liquorish, made its triumphant return for its 19th season, solidifying its position as one of the most successful shows in Malta. The program is renowned for its over-the-top challenges, which can be both thrilling and revolting for its viewers. In fact, it didn’t take long for the contestants to be put in a challenging position during the season’s premiere when they were tasked with eating a live cockroach.

One by one, the contestants stepped up to take on the daunting challenge of consuming such a creature. While some were able to stomach it with ease, others struggled and had a more difficult time completing the task. Regardless, Liquorish’s ability to keep its viewers on the edge of their seats was on full display once again.

Confirmed: Brand new decade-long Harry Potter TV series coming soon

Apr 13 2023 Share

Max, the result of the recent merger between HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming services, has exciting news for fans of the Harry Potter series.

A new Harry Potter TV series is in the works, with a new cast and each season focusing on one of the seven books in J.K. Rowling’s iconic series.

Warner Bros. Discovery expects the series to last for a decade, with each season diving deeper into the Wizarding World.

Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO and Max content, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to give audiences a fresh take on Hogwarts. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World,” said Bloys in a statement.

While some fans expressed reservations about the series, many are eager to see more of the Harry Potter universe on their screens.

J.K. Rowling, who is serving as an executive producer on the project, is also excited about the chance to give the series a level of depth that can only be achieved through a long-form TV show. “I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation,” said Rowling in a statement, “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me.”

Are Maltese properties becoming too expensive?

Apr 12 2023 Share

Malta’s property market saw a decrease in the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property in March 2023, according to data from the National Statistics Office. The number of final deeds of sale amounted to 1,036, which is 154 deeds less than what was registered a year earlier.

However, there was a positive note as the number of promise of sale agreements relating to residential property saw an increase in March 2023. A total of 1,172 agreements were registered, which is 59 agreements more than the same period last year.

The decrease in final deeds of sale could be attributed to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the property market. However despite the decrease in final deeds of sale, the increase in promise of sale agreements could indicate a growing interest in the property market. Promise of sale agreements are a common preliminary step taken by buyers and sellers before the final sale is completed.

The property market in Malta has been relatively stable in recent years, with a steady increase in property prices. According to a report by RE/MAX, the average price of a residential property in Malta increased by 6.7% in 2021, reaching €325,000. However, the impact of the pandemic on the economy and the property market is still uncertain, and it remains to be seen how the market will fare in the coming months.

Overall, the property market in Malta remains a lucrative investment opportunity for both local and foreign buyers. While the decrease in final deeds of sale may be cause for concern, the increase in promise of sale agreements indicates a growing interest in the market.
