After the 15,000 signature milestone was reached on a petition created by Isabelle Bonnici, the grieving mother of Corradino construction victim Jean Paul Sofia, she released a video thanking the public for their constant support and appealing for more signatures.
The petition now has a goal of 25,000 signatures, with 17,553 signed as of time of this writing.
This comes hours before parliament is expected to vote on whether the inquiry will shift from a magisterial inquiry into a public one – a goal many activists and members of the Opposition have been appealing for.
In her video statement, Isabelle said that Malta and Gozo’s workers need to be protected and that she does not want to have any other parent grieve in the way she is.
If you wish to support, you can find the petition here.
