Last Sunday saw Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Tottenham. The game however was censored by Iran’s state broadcaster due to the Premier League assistant referee Sian Massey- Ellis wearing shorts. Iran’s state broadcaster cut away from the match over 100 times according to reports.

The decision to cut away was done in order to stop viewers from seeing Massey-Ellis’ bare legs, according to online Iranian civil rights movement My Stealthy Freedom. Iran’s state-run TV channels are not allowed to show women with their hair uncovered or bare knees shown. Massey-Ellis, 35, has been a match official in the Premier League for over ten years and made history in 2019 by becoming the first woman to officiate in a men’s European fixture.

Call for minimum age on legal cannabis use by family doctors

Call for minimum age on legal cannabis use by family doctors
Apr 16 2021 Share

The Association of Private Family Doctors (APFD) has stated that decriminalisation of cannabis can lead to the use of other illicit drugs and thus called to establish a minimum age for legal cannabis use. The association recognises the need for the substance’s decriminalisation in small quantities, but it could lead to an increase in overall consumption and use of other illicit drugs.

With the government’s launch of a public consultation process on the White Paper to strengthen the legal framework on the responsible use, the APFD stated that use of cannabis in young brains has more harmful effects, alongside the risk of dependence and the move to harder illicit drugs. The APFD also suggested increased campaigns of educational content targeted at vulnerable groups.
