In an exciting national competition held yesterday evening, Ella Portelli emerged victorious as she was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2023. The 24-year-old interior designer surpassed 24 other talented competitors to claim the prestigious national title. Now, she is set to represent Malta on the global stage at the 72nd Miss Universe pageant, scheduled to take place in El Salvador later this year.

The competition was fierce, with a lineup of exceptional women vying for the crown. However, Ella’s grace, beauty, and poise captivated the judges, ultimately leading her to triumph. As Miss Universe Malta, she will now embark on a journey to showcase her talents, charisma, and intellect, aiming to bring pride and honour to her homeland.

Julia Ann Cluett of Floriana and Ntombi Malinga of San Gwann secured the positions of first and second runners-up, respectively, showcasing their remarkable qualities and making a lasting impression on the judges. The Top 6 finalists were completed by Rebecca Camilleri of Sliema, Amy Spiteri of Għaxaq, and Greta Craus of Rabat, all of whom exhibited extraordinary talent and presence throughout the competition.

The newly crowned Miss Universe Malta is no stranger to the world of pageantry. She follows in the footsteps of Maxine Formosa Gruppetta, last year’s titleholder, who garnered the Miss Congeniality award at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans. As Maxine gracefully passed on her crown at the conclusion of the event, she paved the way for Ella Portelli to shine on the global stage.

Ella Portelli participated in the pageant with a profound purpose in mind—to empower and inspire others to believe in themselves relentlessly. In her introduction video for the competition, she expressed her desire to spread kindness and mindfulness, emphasising the importance of understanding that everyone may be facing their own struggles. Her mission is to be the best version of herself, while raising awareness about topics that hold a special place in her heart. The opportunity to represent Malta as Miss Universe is a dream come true for Ella, and she expressed her deep gratitude for the chance to make a difference.

As Ella Portelli steps into the role of Miss Universe Malta 2023, she carries the hopes and aspirations of her nation.
