IPTV platforms shut down over violation of copyright law

Nov 11 2020 Share

Financial services in Italy have shut down close 700 websites and 300 IPTV platforms which would normally broadcast paid content, free of charge.

The closure comes due to the fact that these platforms are in violation of copyright law and are under investigation by the special privacy, protection and technological fraud unit of Naples.

More closures are expected in the coming hours, with a notice being published explaining that the subscription or use of such service may result in prison sentences and fines up to €25,000
