Earlier today, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech took to Facebook to post an emotional tribute to his Father, who has just passed away.

The PN leader wrote that he would ask his father how he was and he would always reply positively and never complain or say he was ‘bad’.

“Last week, when he was already feeling that he felt that his life had reached its end, I asked him “how are you feeling Dad”, and he, barely having the strength to speak, said ‘better’.

Grech bid farewell to his father, saying that now he definitely feels better because he is at rest. “Now you can enjoy an eternity of love… Goodbye Dad and thank you.”

RIP.

Refurbished 50c public toilet in Gżira suffers act of vandalism only a few days after opening

Refurbished 50c public toilet in Gżira suffers act of vandalism only a few days after opening

The newly-refurbished public toilets in Gżira, which charge users 50c for entry, have already suffered an act of vandalism just a few days after opening.

A photo sent to Malta Daily shows one of the toilets seats scattered across the cubicle, with the toilet paper holder’s protective casing removed and some trash laying around.

Following its opening, Gżira mayor Conrad Borg Manché stated how the council could not afford to have the toilets vandalised like the previous ones, which triggered the requirement for an attendant at all times. The toilets reportedly cost around €40,000 from council budget and regional funds, with the 50c-per-entry payment going towards making sure the toilets’ standard of quality is held.

Many took to Facebook to express their concern, with some stating that everything is always taken for granted because taxes are paid whilst others highlighted how most local public toilets are kept in a disgraceful state.

What do you make of this situation?

It stated that the elderly are most at risk of being victims in such incidents and appealed to the authorities for immediate action on addressing the ‘intolerable situation which is destroying families and communities’.

On Friday, a 64-year-old man from Gozo sustained serious injuries after being involved in a traffic incident in Triq Għajn Qatet in Rabat, Gozo. His motorcycle collided with a Toyota Starlet driven by a 46-year-old man from Fontana.
