“For the third year in a row, the Labour Party won the general election. This is a victory for the Labour Party, but we must ensure that the victory is for Malta and Gozo, because we campaigned with a call for unity.” These were the words of Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne during the Labour Party’s general conference on Friday.
During his speech, Fearne stated that during the recent election, the people chose unity and that is why the government must attempt to overcome the challenge of bringing deflectors of the Labour Party closer to it in the coming months and years.
He went on to state that for the Labour Party to have become relevant and remain relevant, it must continue to look towards the future and reinvent itself to be different than what it is today.
Fearne’s closing statements reiterated Labour Party Deputy Leader Daniel Jose Micallef’s, in that the first 10 years of the Labour Party in government are just the beginning and that the government has big projects to work on in the coming years.
