Iconic Ta’ Rita restaurant to be converted into larger guest house

Planning case officer has approved the change of Għar Lapsi restaurant Ta’ Rita into a slightly larger guest house. The Planning Board will confirm decision of 4 March.

The restaurant with historical presence will have a first floor level, an underground parking, hall and marine leisure shop, making it relatively bulkier.

Cultural Heritage objected to the mass increase of the building, but the case officer claims this will be a modernisation of the building which will not affect the environmental and visual aspect of the surroundings.

193 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 242 recoveries

Malta has registered 193 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,782 swab tests, while 242 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Sunday 21st February 2021, 64,419 vaccine doses were administered of which 18,309 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 21,085 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 18,309 have recovered, 305 died and 2,471 are still active.

Boris Johnson to begin 4-step plan to lift England’s lockdown

By 8 March, Boris Johnson seeks to ease lockdown measures, opening up schools as well as other extra-curricular activities.

All students will be returning to their desks and are free for meet ups with one other friend. 29 March will then make it possible for larger groups of six people or two households to meet outside and in other private areas.

This is the first stage of a four part plan enacted by Johnson towards a return to normal. Periods of five weeks will be used to analyse COVID details before every phase and expected to be completed by late June.

The government is also planning on offering all UK adults vaccine by end of July.
