Ian Borg Gives First Speech As PL’s Deputy Leader For Parliamentary Affairs

Yesterday, Ian Borg delivered his first speech as the newly appointed Deputy Leader for Labour Party Parliamentary Affairs.

In his address, Borg called for unity within the party and emphasised the importance of presenting an inspiring vision to the public.

He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence that the Labour Party could secure a fourth consecutive general election victory by outlining a clear direction for the country’s future. “We need to ensure things are done correctly and on time,” he added.

University Of Malta And CareMalta Group Sign Memorandum To Enhance Safety

The Department of Health Systems Management and Leadership within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Malta and CareMalta Group, which includes CareMalta and HILA, have entered into a formal partnership aimed at improving safety protocols within CareMalta and HILA-operated facilities.

The collaboration was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the University of Malta on Monday, 9th September.

The partnership focuses on enhancing safety standards and practices, with the goal of ensuring a safer environment for residents and service users. Both organizations emphasize the importance of resident well-being as a key priority.

University of Malta Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting the university’s role in contributing to societal needs by applying academic knowledge to practical challenges.

He noted that this partnership not only strengthens safety protocols but also fosters a more informed approach to discussions on ageing and care.

James Sciriha, Chief Executive of CareMalta Group, stated that the collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to improving resident safety and care quality.

He emphasized that by integrating academic insights with practical applications, the partnership aims to elevate safety standards across the care sector in Malta.

The MoU was signed by University of Malta Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella; Dr. Stephen Lungaro Mifsud, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. Sandra Buttigieg, Head of the Health Systems Management and Leadership Department; James Sciriha, CEO of CareMalta Group; Noel Borg, COO of CareMalta Group; and Janet Silvio, CEO of HILA.

Hamrun band Clubs On Pilgrimage Give Taste Of Maltese Festi

Hamrun band clubs joining the pilgrimage the statue of St Cajetan undertook in honour of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Theatre Order gave Italy a taste of Maltese feasts.

In videos shared by Għaqda tal-Mużika San Gejtanu AD 1906 and Soċjeta Mużikali San Ġużepp Ħamrun AD 1889, the Maltese can be seen celebrating in traditional Maltese festa style.

With flags and music parading through the streets of Rome, the locals got a taste of what goes down during the iconic Maltese feasts.

The statue of Ħamrun patron saint St Cajetan has just made history as the first and only Maltese statue to enter St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

Grupp Armar San Gejtanu Ħamrun, who ensured the trip to the Roman city all went swell, shared footage of the pilgrimage as the statue was moved through the streets of Italy.

The statue even invited Pope Francis himself who paid tribute to the saint and prayed in front of the statue.

The statue’s journey is part of the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Theatine Order, an order established by St. Cajetan himself.

On September 14th, a special commemoration was held in Rome to honour this remarkable milestone.
