Ian Borg and Alex Agius Saliba have both announced their candidacies for key leadership positions within the Labour Party.
Ian Borg will be running for Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs, while Alex Agius Saliba is contesting the position of Deputy Leader for Party Affairs.
Ian Borg, supported by Labour MPs, activists, and his family, aims to strengthen Labour’s values and consolidate the Labour Government. His decision follows Prime Minister Robert Abela’s call for party unity, and Borg has consulted with Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne, acknowledging his contributions over the years.
With over 11 years of Cabinet experience, Borg has been a central figure in Malta’s major infrastructure projects and international diplomacy. He has represented Malta on the United Nations Security Council, securing key agreements, particularly on issues like the Middle East and Ukraine.
Currently serving as Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Borg is focused on peace, unity, and sustainable development.
Alex Agius Saliba, a dedicated Labour activist since the age of 15 and a current MEP has been deeply involved in the Party’s structures.
He is stepping forward to strengthen the Labour Party by fostering enthusiasm and collaboration among activists and volunteers. Agius Saliba is committed to ensuring the Party remains a powerful political force in Malta, driven by love, work, and dedication to the country.
