Hundreds of Maltese families attended the inaugural edition of Festa Ħaddiem – Minn Id il-Public Works, organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Works and the Public Works Department. The event took place at the Concert Area in Ta’ Qali, nestled within Malta’s largest open and green space.
Over the course of two days, the venue was transformed into a lively hub of activity, showcasing artisanal craftsmanship, interactive exhibitions, entertainment, and family-friendly games. Visitors had the unique opportunity to get a closer look at the skilled work carried out by the 600 employees of the Public Works Department on national projects, while also enjoying quality time with their children and loved ones.
During the event, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia highlighted that the government’s open space strategy is about more than just creating green areas. “Every green and open space we inaugurate is intended—just as this event showed—to be a place for families, children, young people, and the elderly to truly enjoy, as our main goal remains the improvement of quality of life,” he said.
Farrugia concluded by expressing his satisfaction at seeing families appreciating the dedication of public workers, noting, “It was heartening to watch children playing freely while families came together to celebrate the work that often happens behind the scenes.”
