How’s The Weekend Looking? Light Rain To Persist

How's The Weekend Looking? Light Rain To Persist
Mar 7 2025 Share

Malta woke up to a rainy Friday as it goes into the weekend. But how’s the weekend looking?

Well the wind and rain are set to persist at least throughout the entirety of Friday to close the week off.

When we look at the forecast of Saturday, the Meteorological office suggests light rain is set to hit Malta, with low temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius.

The weather might open up slightly on Sunday but will still be partly cloudy.

And then, as if to tease us, the weather is set to become mainly sunny starting Tuesday 11th March, but not before a ‘windy’ Monday.

Do you enjoy this weather?

The Kottonera Foundation has successfully completed the restoration of 14 Via Crucis paintings at the Capuchin Church in Kalkara. This was announced during a visit by Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, and Kottonera Foundation Chairperson, Joe Mizzi.

Experts with extensive skills and experience meticulously restored the paintings, carefully reviving their intricate details that had faded over time, bringing them back to their original splendour.

Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli highlighted that this restoration was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Kottonera Foundation.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with local councils to facilitate cultural initiatives.

“These projects play a vital role in our communities and underscore the government’s dedication to safeguarding our cultural and religious heritage.

Through this initiative, we are preserving Maltese traditions while strengthening Christian values,” she stated. She further stressed the importance of protecting historical heritage for future generations, reiterating the government’s ongoing support.

Chairperson Joe Mizzi noted that, since its founding, the Kottonera Foundation has carried out numerous similar heritage conservation projects across the region.

He explained that the foundation’s strategy focuses on keeping cultural treasures alive and ensuring greater public accessibility. He reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to preserving these invaluable assets for future generations.

Guardian Father Miguel Zammit of the Capuchin Church expressed his gratitude to the Kottonera Foundation for its support in ensuring that this religious and cultural heritage continues to be protected and cherished.

Government Rules Out Raising Statutory Retirement Age Beyond 65

Mar 7 2025 Share

In a recent Parliamentary Questions session, Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon revealed that the government will not be raising the statutory retirement age beyond 65.

The discussion was brought about by Nationalist MP Graziella Attard Previ, who asked the minister whether the government have plans to raise the retirement age.

Minister Michael Falzon categorically rejected the notion that the government was planning to raise the statutory retirement age, even stating that the government has made it clear that they will not be raising the retirement age.

Falzon also reminded Attard Previ that the last time the retirement age was changed was all the way back in 2006.
