How Many 1st Count Votes Did Independents Get?

Here’s how many first count votes some of the more popular independent candidates got.

Cassola was by far the candidate with most votes, starting out with 12,706 first count votes. Cassola finished the race at the 34th count with 22,941 votes.

Second in line was former Gżira mayor Conrad Borg Manche at 5,936 votes.

Meanwhile, Żaren tal-Ajkla acquired 206 first count votes and Adrian Żammit got 579 first count votes.

James Ryder Muscat acquired 1,585 votes. Did you vote for any independent candidates?

Taking to social media, Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech thanked the Maltese public for the ‘historic level of support.’

‘Thank you for electing three MEPs in the name of the Nationalist Party’, he said, going on to congratulate Roberta Metsola, Peter Agius and David Casa.

He also thanked David Agius, Lee Bugeja Bartolo, Norma Camilleri, Miriana Calleja Testaferrata de Noto and Louise Anne Pulis for their hard work, wishing them the best for more work in favour of the Maltese.

‘The work of a united team led to the strongest result for the Nationalist Party in the European Parliament elections. As from tomorrow, we start to build and strengthen with discipline and humility with everyone.’

Independent candidate Arnold Cassola took to social media following the announcement of election results to reflect on his most recent campaign.

Despite missing out on the MEP seat, the independent candidate wrote that:

‘These last few weeks have been a great experience for all of us. We are all extremely proud of this result.’

He said that there’s an emerging sense of optimism and appetite for a new chapter in Maltese politics.

‘A wish for a modern, just and prosperous Malta. We have an emerging generation of voters who want to give voice to a fresh democratic future that goes away from tribalism and moves toward a more dynamic and functional society where reason and merit drive the agenda, where decisions are taken in the best interests of the nation and its citizens.’

‘This was just the beginning. Let’s keep moving forward with the same optimism and unity that brought us here in the first place.’

Cassola ended the race with 22,941 votes, falling short of acquiring the seat as the two main parties acquired 3 seats each.

European Parliament President Roberta Metosla received a whopping 87,473 first count votes, breaking the MEP record.

Taking to social media, Metsola wrote:

‘I am humbled and grateful for your trust. We wrote history today. Thank you for believing. I will not let you down.’

Metsola is one of three PN candidates to be elected, with the other two being David Casa and Peter Agius.

Alex Agius Saliba, Thomas Bajada and Daniel Attard were PL candidates elected.
