It-Temp Madwarna has reminded us that air temperature is measured 2 metres above the ground, which means the ground itself can be much hotter than we realise.

The temperature in the sun can vary by about 10°–20°C, and it also changes depending on whether the surface is soil, grass, asphalt, or concrete.

Today’s weather, according to It-Temp Madwarna, is sunny and hot, with light and variable winds mostly from the west-southwest (WSW). The sea is calm. The highest temperature today will be 33°C, dropping to 22°C tonight. It will feel like 35°C during the day. The UV index is high at 10.

In a recent Facebook post, they urged everyone to remember this when walking dogs, warning that hot surfaces can seriously burn their paws.

The management of Hutchinson Gozo explained how in recent years the company has invested around €6 million to diversify its operations and become more energy-efficient, through new machinery and high-quality workplaces for more Gozitans and Maltese.

In Xewkija, Gozo, the Prime Minister also visited Magro Brothers, a company that last year announced a €12.5 million investment. This investment will allow the company to double its production and rank among the top five European companies in the sector.

In fact, the company’s leadership explained to the Prime Minister that in recent years, it has experienced substantial growth in its exports of table sauces, and in 2024 it reached full production capacity.

After meeting with the workers who contribute daily to the company’s success, Prime Minister Robert Abela stated, “The trust in our country’s economy continues to be reflected in more investments, which not only create more quality jobs for our people, but also prioritise the environment. That’s why it’s important that while we continue to nurture and take care of our economy because that is the foundation of everything we also continue to incentivise smart investment so that our country keeps moving forward towards a bright future ahead.”
