During a live conference today, Prof Charmaine Gauci noted that more clusters are being found when activities of high-intensity training take place.
Prof Gauci said that this might be happening because a person would take much more breaths and that this might lead to an infected person spreading more of the virus onto other people.
Prof Gauci urged for regulations to be followed during such activities and that social distance is of utmost importance.

Malta has registered 185 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,280 swab tests, while 174 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.
As of Thursday 28th January 2021, 24,680 vaccine doses were administered.
To date, Malta has registered 17,585 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 14,626 have recovered, 264 died and 2,695 are still active.

Elderly residents in care homes and frontlines in residential homes have begun receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccinations began around 3 weeks ago for around 4,400 people who live or work in 37 elderly homes. People aged over 85 were given first priority.
Two residents at a Mellieħa home were among the first to receive the COVID-19 second dose.
Michael Farrugia, Minister for the Elderly, was also given the first does while he was present for the occasion.

Experts from the World Health Organisation are to meet Chinese experts in Wuhan today in order to start investigating the origins of the COVID-19 virus.
WHO is planning to meet with the first patients who were infected with COVID-19 and with the first medical practitioners who were involved in the pandemic.
Team members have been in quarantine for the past two weeks during which they started their investigation virtually.
