The Ministry for Gozo organised the 8th edition of the Gozo Sports Awards, granting various Gozitan athletes awards for their advancements and achievements in their respective disciplines.
Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri awarded the athletes, stating on social media that this year was filled with sport related events and activities in Gozo.
‘This was the year when Gozo debuted in the Small Island Games in Guernsey, which, I am convinced, will encourage more youth to take up sports and participate with success’.
Forecasting Gozo’s participation in the Orkney Island Games 2025, the Minister announced the awards and results as follows:
- Official of the Year: Noel Mizzi
- Team of the Year: Athletix AC Gozo
- Coach of the Year: Felicienne Mercieca
- Recognition for an Athlete over 45 years: Frank Xuereb
- Recognition for Sport Career: Jason Vassallo
- Special Recognition for SPECIAL OLYMPICS: Giuseppina Galea, Carmelo Pace
- Prominent Female Youth: Keira Attard
- Prominent Male Youth: Luigi Dimech
- Sportsperson of the Year (Male): Marlon Attard
- Sportsperson of the Year (Female): Estelle Scicluna
- Recognition for the athletes who won awards during the Guernsey games: Marlon Attard, DAVID BORG and Lara Calleja
- Recognition for Athletes who won medals during the Small Nations Games in Malta 2023: Marcello Attard
