Here are some of the biggest movies coming out in 2021

Mar 2 2021 Share

With the amount of content and entertainment we’ve been consuming lately, it’s a relief to know how many great films and shows are being released in 2021. As much as we are suckers for indie gems and low-key hits, sometimes a guilty pleasure, Hollywood blockbuster is all you need on Friday night in.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to come out on March 18th, where we’ll finally be able to see the untouched myth of a movie pioneered by Zack Snyder. Expect the usual dark DC Entertainment Universe, but darker.

On March 31st, Godzilla vs. Kong, a long-awaited clash of the titans which will part of the ‘Monsterverse’, years in the making. If you’re a Godzilla fan, a Kong fan, or just like to watch movies where huge supernatural beings battle it out, this is definitely one to watch.

Gaming fans are elated with this one, but are still a bit sceptical if the studios have handled the fabled gaming brand well. Mortal Kombat is set to release on April 16 and will hopefully one-up the 1995 version of the movie which, to this day, has been certified as meme gold.

Finally, the blockbuster to end all blockbusters, F9, which is set to come out on May 28. This will be the 9th instalment of the ‘what will they blow up now’ series of Fast & Furious. What’s super cool about this one is the debut of John Cena as Dom Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) brother, so watch out for that.

Space hotel to open in 2027 to start construction

Mar 2 2021 Share

Have you ever dreamt of going to a bar or watch the latest block-buster film whilst in outer space? This may soon be a possibility as the Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is starting construction of an out-of-this-world hotel in 2025, in hopes that it will be operational two years later.

The hotel is to include a spa, restaurants, bars and a cinema for up to 400 people. OAC has space colonisation in mind, with this rotating space station, made up of two concentric structural rings, being another step towards that goal. Both tourists and space agencies conducting research will be able to enjoy the hotel’s luxury.

Maltese film ‘Luzzu’ to feature across American cinemas

Mar 2 2021 Share

Filmed by Alex Camilleri, a Maltese writer, producer and editor born in America, ‘Luzzu’ found incredible success at the Sundance Festival. Recent news has revealed that an American film distributor, Kino Lorber, has acquired the rights to distribute the film across cinemas in North America. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a whopping 100%, with actor Jesmark Scicluna winning a Special Jury Award for his role.

Following the tale of two real fishermen, it depicts the struggles faced by the fishing industry as the modern age looms overhead. The fishermen have no choice but to turn to the black market for sustenance. Malta provided a unique setting as Camilleri wanted to portray the struggle between maintaining tradition and surviving the modern world.
