Nature Trust’s Gozo Section revealed that hedgehogs Joseph Junior & Melanie have successfully been released back into the wild over the weekend.
This comes after they were taken into rehabilitation at the end of July as two young hoglets that had been abandoned.
‘After a slow start, they gained weight and grew quickly, and were finally ready to be released on Friday. We wish these two cuties the best of luck.’
All such rescued animals are protected species and it is illegal in Malta to keep them as pets or harm them.
‘If you spot any of the wild animals that we rescue injured or in danger, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.’
‘A massive thank you always goes to the public who call us when they notice an animal in distress, our vets, and our dedicated rescue and rehabilitation volunteers.’
