A heat warning has been issued by the MET Office due to intense heat as maximum temperatures are expected to reach 35°C today.

Temperatures are set to remain just as hot throughout this entire week, feeling like 36°C by Thursday 11th July.

The overall weather is expected to be hot and sunny, with Monday being somewhat hazy – as reported by Facebook weather page ‘It-Temp Madwarna’.

The incoming heat is being attributed to an African anticyclone which is heating up after a number of milder days in terms of temperature.

Dive Systems Malta’s Sergey Markov shared footage he and his fellow divers took of the rare monk seal in Maltese waters.

Despite not revealing the exact location of the marine mammal (which many commenters seemingly agreed with), the seal was found hiding in a shallow cave.

‘The Monk Seal is native to the Mediterranean and an endangered species with only an estimated 1,000 individuals still roaming the sea’, he explained.

‘The seal was last spotted in Malta over 30 years ago’, but this proved to be a unique experience for the divers.
