The statue of Ħamrun’s patron saint, St. Cajetan, successfully arrived in Rome a few weeks ago in preparation for a historic pilgrimage.
This sacred statue, which was carefully transported from Ħamrun, Malta, was first placed in the Basilica of Sant’Andrea Della Valle in Rome. Today, it has reached its final destination, the world-renowned St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
The statue’s journey is part of the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Theatine Order, an order established by St. Cajetan himself. This event holds deep significance not only for the Maltese community but also for the wider Catholic world.
On September 14th, a special commemoration will be held in Rome to honor this remarkable milestone.
The event will celebrate St. Cajetan’s legacy and the enduring impact of the Theatine Order, highlighting the spiritual influence that has resonated over five centuries. This pilgrimage and commemoration are a proud moment for both Malta and the followers of St. Cajetan, adding a historic chapter to the statue’s journey and the saint’s enduring legacy.
