On Sunday, the health authorities stated that in the previous 24 hours, a further 142 patients had tested positive for the virus, the second highest number since March. This means that for five days in a row, the daily recorded cases were registered in three figures and the rise seems to continue.

These figures, along with the amount of hospitalizations and deaths seen in the past few weeks, indicate that the situation is much worse now than it was when the pandemic first struck the island during the first half of the year.

The president told the crowd that Mr Biden was the “worst candidate in the history of presidential elections” and that he could not face the prospect of being defeated by the former vice president.
