Groom Spends Wedding Day In Court After Allegedly Biting Fiancée

Jun 28 2025 Share

A 29-year-old man from Żabbar was denied bail after being charged with domestic violence just one day before his planned wedding.

Dylan Agius appeared in court facing several charges following an argument with his partner on Friday, 27 June. The dispute reportedly began around noon after the woman informed Agius she no longer wanted to proceed with the wedding.

Police were called to a residence on Triq il-Kunvent in Żabbar, where they found the woman on the floor and Agius shouting at her. The victim told police that Agius had bitten her hand, burned more than €150 in cash, and smashed Kinder eggs belonging to children who were not theirs.

He was charged with causing slight injuries and instilling fear of violence. The victim later told the court she wanted to drop the charges, a move the prosecution highlighted as part of a repeated pattern. In fact, two previous domestic violence reports filed against Agius last year were also withdrawn by the same woman.

Despite his father offering to house him if bail was granted, the court denied the request, citing a risk of witness tampering and the recurring nature of the alleged abuse. Agius pleaded not guilty to all charges.

All public beaches are managed by the MTA and Ministry for Gozo and Planning. At the Golden Bay ceremony, a rescued turtle named Evie was released into the sea after being rehabilitated for nearly a year.

Deputy Prime Minister Borg said the Blue Flag reflects Malta’s strong commitment to protecting coastal environments while delivering a safe, enjoyable experience for visitors.

Adrian Delia Officially Submits PN Leadership Bid

Jun 28 2025 Share

Former Nationalist Party leader and current MP Adrian Delia has officially confirmed his candidacy to once again lead the PN, submitting his nomination at the party’s headquarters, Dar Ċentrali.

If successful, Delia would make history as the first person to return as PN leader after previously being replaced.

Malta daily Facebook 970x90

Delia led the Nationalist Party between 2017 and 2020 before being ousted and replaced by Bernard Grech, who recently announced he would not seek re-election.

Delia’s return to the leadership race marks a significant political development within the party, especially after speculation surrounding his intentions.

Although Delia had publicly expressed interest in running again, some were unsure whether he would proceed, particularly after Gozitan MP Alex Borg, widely seen as a political ally, entered the race unexpectedly.

Reports had suggested that an understanding between the two meant only one would contest the leadership.

Despite this, Delia moved ahead with his campaign, solidifying his bid with a formal submission. His decision now sets the stage for a potentially competitive leadership contest as the PN looks to rebuild and reposition itself ahead of future elections.
