Greta Thunberg Lambasts Manoel Island Development

Greta Thunberg Lambasts Manoel Island Development
May 16 2025 Share

A video shared by Rakkont Media, Moviment Graffitti & Manoel Island Post Għalina has Greta Thunberg commenting about the development of Manoel Island.

“I think it is madness in a time of environmental and climate emergencies to build more luxury establishments”, says Greta.

“What we need is a system that prioritises people and our wellbeing above profits. Keeping the green spaces is one simple and very concrete way of doing it.”

She said that these developments, and the inability to do low hanging fruit changes that priorities the environment and people, shows what politicians and people in power actually care about.

Manoel Island Post Għalina said that the Maltese do not need Greta to tell them that green open spaces are needed.

“But as a modern icon of environmentalism and social justice, it does not come as a surprise that her views on the necessity of public open green spaces mirror ours.”

“We encourage the public to sign the petition calling for Manoel Island to be turned into a public park – small actions carried out by the masses can have lasting impacts on our lives. 14,000 Maltese residents have already signed, and we have just over a week to go.”

In the Young Cavaliers Theatre Programme, children aged 7–12 will dive into the wonderful world of performance. Led by the inspiring Lara Agius, this immersive experience covers everything from acting and storytelling to set and costume design. Week by week, young participants will explore a different aspect of theatre, working towards a thrilling final public performance at the iconic round theatre at Spazju Kreattiv.

Prefer painting to performing? Budding visual artists can join the Art Jam Summer Bootcamp, a vibrant series of six art workshops guided by artist and educator Ryan Galea. Children will experiment with diverse media, take inspiration from Maltese and international artists, and curate their own final public exhibition inside one of Spazju Kreattiv’s professional galleries.

Whether your child wants to take centre stage or fill the gallery walls, ŻiguŻajg’s Summer Programme is a joyful journey of creativity and self-expression. Parents can even opt for added flexibility with early drop-off or extended pick-up hours.

🎟️ Spaces are limited so let your child shine this summer in a space that celebrates bold ideas, fearless imagination, and Malta’s emerging generation of creatives!
