Greenfield’s Carmen Tanti passes away aged 75 years

Carmen Tanti, who formed part of the folk music group ‘The Greenfields’, has sadly passed away at the age of 75.

The group Greenfields, with whom Carmen sang, was a renowned local musical act focusing on traditional Maltese songs. Formed in 1970 alongside singer Charles Bajada, they used to perform in a number of local programmes such as Karusell and Għalenija.

Carmen nee Vella had been married to co-singer Joe, with her Greenfields co-star Charles Bajada passing away in 1990.

Some of their most famous tunes include ‘Il-Karrozzin’ and ‘Il-Vapur ta’ l-Art’. Carmen and Joe parented two children; Clive and Myra.

Tributes poured in for the late icon, with many reminiscing all about the music she co-created throughout her career.
