Following news of a Labour Party ‘absolute majority’ announced by Robert Abela, supporters of the party at the Naxxar counting hall brought out a Greek flag to taunt Nationalist Party leader Robert Abela.

The flag became synonymous among Labour party supporters after a comment stated by Grech towards the beginning of his tenure as PN and Opposition leader.

Labour victory means that 'Malta will remain united', Chris Fearne says
Mar 27 2022 Share

During an Interview on One, Chris Fearne has stated that Labour have secured a convincing electoral victory and that it is of great satisfaction to continue to lead to Maltese people.

He stated that the victory means that Malta will remain united “with a government for all Maltese and Gozitan people” before going on to thank everyone who voted for the Labour Party.

Fearne assured watchers that the government will represent all of Malta on not just those who voted Labour, highlighting that they will pursue individuals who did not vote Labour, or did not vote at all, to discover where the party is failing and how they can improve.

All 132 passengers on Chinese aircraft crash confirmed dead

All 132 passengers on Chinese aircraft crash confirmed dead
Mar 27 2022 Share

China has confirmed that all 132 of the passengers on board the China Eastern Airlines flight which crashed earlier this week have died.

The plane had plunged from more than 6,000m on Monday 21st March, crashing into a mountainside near Wuzhou in Teng County, Guangxi province in China.

Following a fire sparked by the crash, a recovery mission team confirmed it had found human remains at the site, confirming to state media in the country that everyone on board has sadly died.

With 123 passengers and 9 crew members aboard, more than 300 rescue workers have been working at the site following the crash. The cockpit voice recorder is being analysed in Beijing.

Much of the aircraft disintegrated on impact due to the force of the crash, badly damaging the black box when it was recovered from the wreckage.

It was revealed that a family of three, carrying an 18-month old daughter, were on board the plane. They were hading to Guangzhou for medical treatment for the child and ended up on the plane due to their previous flight being cancelled.

Personnel claimed that the plane passed all checks prior to take-off and had flown the normal flight path through ‘not dangerous’ weather. Investigations are ongoing.
