Grech calls for supplementary vouchers for COVID-19 supplies

Starting from Thursday 29th October, the In his Budget 2021 reaction in Parliament, PN leader Bernard Grech offered a number of counter-measures for Malta. 

One of the first proposals was that citizens should get supplementary vouchers for masks, sanitisers, gloves and other supplies to protect themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure public safety.

He went on to refer to Prime Minister Abela’s claim that it is the best budget in our country’s history and rather call it “the biggest deficit in our country’s history”.

Maximum of 6 people now allowed to convene in public

Starting from Thursday 29th October, the maximum number of people allowed in a public group has gone down to 6 instead of 10. 

This comes from a government statement published today which also announced the closure of bars and band clubs until 1st December.

The group-maximum of 6 people also counts for queues and bus stops and ignoring the latter will result in a €100 fine.

Bars, clubs and band clubs to close until December

Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne has just announced that Bars and Band Clubs will be temporarily closing from next Thursday 29th of October till the 1st of December.

Snack bars and Kiosks will continue to operate normally but will be forbidden from serving alcohol.

Boots to introduce a 12 minute Covid test in stores in the UK

The pharmacy chain said that LumiraDx machines, which can easily process swab samples and give consumers results on the same day, will be rolling out in selected stores over the next few weeks. 

The tests are targeted at people who may not have symptoms but are seeking for peace of mind, but anyone who believes that they may have Covid-19 is  recommended to visit the NHS testing station, for further clarity.
